What it is

MIEL is elevated mother-daughter matching swimwear, from one-piece suits to mommy-and-me sets. Collection one is in the making.

The name

Miel is French for honey. It began as a nickname before it was a brand, the word founder Mia says to her daughter, Elle, and the word that happens when their two names meet.

The story

MIEL was founded by Mia, a mother based in Los Angeles, as a love letter to herself and to her daughter Elle. Becoming a mother and still wanting to be fully yourself can be isolating. Mia wanted to dress her daughter with the same care and intention she dresses herself, and found that chic, elevated swim for both of them barely existed. MIEL is built on the idea that femininity and motherhood coexist, and that daughters are watching how their mothers hold themselves in the world.

The concept: the shadow shop

Until collection one exists in hand, MIEL photographs its swimwear as shadows. Product cards and product pages cross fade to a shadow image on hover, a preview of what is coming without showing it in full. See it on the shop page.
